A thick, well produced, deluge of riffs and electronics from this duo, guitarist Blake bringing no shortage of riffs while vocalist Alice goes effortlessly from blood curdling screams to nicely sung lines. A song about the rise of the true crime documentary over the pandemics (something I’ve admittedly fallen into at times) the dark subject matter sits well with the music. There’s a definitely influence from bands like Enter Shikari in the production, with some programmed electronic elements – which may partly be a limitation of being a two piece band but actually work really well in this context. The video for Magic Square is a blooded, fast-cutting, axe wielding blast too – definitely worth checking out.

This is my first time hearing Lake Malice but I’m definitely interested to hear more.
